Photography commission for a book cover

Publisher Dorling Kindersley contacted DJC Design's main photographer David J Colbran to supply an image for a forthcoming book.

They provided a specific brief for the jacket cover of an academic title soon to be published called "War" and David looked at a series of themes, decided upon a formal, memorial theme. Several ideas were discussed and eventually an image of the war memorial outside St Georges Hall, Liverpool, was agreed upon. The image shows a bronze freeze of First World War soldiers marching into battle and this was used as the prime image of the front cover and then as a transparent on the rear.
